Bravose Previews: Fights happening in October 2022

Four title match ups are scheduled to take place during October 2022.

On Saturday 15 October at the O2 Arena in London, UK, Claressa Shields will be taking on Savannah Marshall for the WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO Middleweight Titles.

American Shields and Brit Marshall first met as amateurs with the rivalry being ten years in the making. The pair will now battle it out in the professional ranks, with many expecting all out war between the classic boxer and the power puncher.

The undisputed middleweight title fight between Shields and Marshall headlines a historic all female fight card which also features a WBO Super-Featherweight Title clash between Mikaela Mayer and Alycia Baumgardner.

Tempers have been running high between the American pair. After Mayer predicted the performance of her life and Baumgardner vowed to shut her opponent up, security had to step in to split the two fighters at their face-off.

Another bout happening on the same date – but on the opposite side of the world at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia – will see Devin Haney once again meet George Kambosos Jr in pursuit of the WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO Lightweight Titles.

The pair first met in June 2022, when American Haney earned victory by a clear unanimous decision victory to become the first four-belt 135-pound champion. Australian Kambosos invoked an immediate rematch clause, leading to the fighters meeting again just four months later.

Later in the month, on Saturday 29 October, the WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO Lightweight World Titles will be up for grabs between Katie Taylor and Karen Elizabeth Carabajal at Wembley Arena in London, UK.

Ireland’s Taylor will be aiming to deliver another attention-grabbing display as she continues to go after the rematch with Amanda Serrano. While many have played down Argentine Carabajal's chances, the undefeated fighter will want to make the most of the biggest opportunity of her career.
